Recorded 17th December 2012. Margaret (Meg) shows how CA may be combined with ‘experimental phonetics’ and what this may be useful for. In her talk she investigates the phonetic features of topic organisation — specifically looking at production. Meg argues that the quantitative method of experimental phonetics can identify points of interest, and help with understanding borderline cases whilst the specific focus of what participants do in CA can give much more richer insights than experimental phonetics can.
