Welcome to the kick-start of the State of Talk podcast. For this first episode we interview Prof Rod Gardner. We got to talk about some of the history of CA in Australia, some of the fascinating multi-modal work their team is doing in remote Australia and a return to ‘mmm’.
This podcast, developed in collaboration with the wonderful DARGchive, builds on their long-standing task of interviewing the #EMCA community, and will be re-publishing long form podcast versions of interviews from the DARGchive Youtube channel.
This interview style is just one of many formats that we – the ISCA publication committee – are currently testing. Our broader aims – with the new website, the social media presence, and the Forum Newsletter is to generate discussion, collaboration, and put a fire in our belly about the interactional discoveries that can only come from our naturalistic inquiries.
We want to keep these podcasts adaptable. So, as we progress, listen out for different styles of podcasts, some longer, some shorter, some like this focused on an academic, but others will have different structures, or be focused on a piece of data. If you have ideas or want to participate, please go to https://conversationanalysis.org/ – and reach out to us. We would love your input in what we are building, which we hope is a truly International connection amongst our EM and CA communities.
